Description(*) : Within a 14-day period in October 2023, R. pickettii was detected in samples from three patients (one autologous stem cell (SC) product and two blood culture samples from BSI) treated at a tertiary care hospital in Germany without an obvious local epidemiological link (the three patients were hospitalised in different buildings without contact to each other or shared procedures). As this rate exceeds by far the baseline detection of R. pickettii species in clinical samples of the hospital (maximum of one positive sample per year during 2014–2022), an outbreak investigation was initiated on 20 October 2023.
